As an advisor or leader, Michael O'Neal uses the wide diversity of past experiences to define and develop new technology and business possibilities and then through strong team building and focus on execution makes those possibilities real. He is known as a hands-on operator who is customer-oriented and stresses transparent and fact-based decision-making. He has executed strategic acquisitions, partnerships, licensing relationships. Having a background in restructuring and reorganization, he has streamlined businesses and lowered costs in the organizations he has served. He has strong strategy skills and is financially oriented.
Michael has a diversified career that has spanned private businesses, government organizations as well as not-for-profit enterprises. His career started working for several Governors, helping them grapple with their bureaucracies and then he advised a number of not-for-profit organizations on strategies to improve their effectiveness. These experiences then helped him as he advised the restructuring of several companies in retail, distribution and trucking.
For the last 20 years, his experience has been largely in technology based product development, manufacturing and distribution. And most recently, he was President of Linear LLC, a small engineering-based product company that he guided into becoming Nortek Security & Control, a half a billion-dollar global leader in security, smart home control, health and wellness, and access control platforms and solutions. He successfully spearheaded a number of strategic initiatives, including the 2013 acquisition of security system pioneer 2GIG, acquisition of personal emergency response and health care device and software company Numera, the 2017 merger with sister companies Core Brands and GTO Access Systems, and the 2018 acquisition of artificial intelligence and video analytics software innovator IntelliVision.
